Do Movers Move Plants, TVs, and Grand Pianos? What to Know About Specialty Items

Jacob Stone • July 17, 2025

At Elite Movers, we've seen (and moved) it all, so let's break it down:

Some things are easy to pack—a stack of books, your sock drawer, or that weird box of wires you never use but can't throw away.

But what about your baby grand piano? Or your towering fiddle leaf fig? Or that giant flat-screen TV mounted like it's part of the architecture?

Here's the deal—not everything is as straightforward as it seems regarding moving. And depending on the mover you hire, the answer might be: "Sure," "Maybe," or "Sorry, you're on your own."

Do Movers Move Pianos?

Short answer: Yes, but not all movers will.

Pianos are heavydelicate, and expensive. They weigh 300 to 1,200 pounds and have fragile strings, pedals, and wood that can crack if moved the wrong way. At Elite Movers, we've safely moved everything from uprights to baby grand pianos. We bring the right gear—like piano boards, straps, and dollies—and a team that knows how to do the job without damaging your piano or your walls.

What About Plants?

This one's tricky.

Most movers can't transport live plants long-distance due to state regulations, potential pests, and the risk of them dying in a hot truck. But if it's a local move in central Arkansas? We've got you. Even if it's a few hours away, you can trust us with your plants, because our trucks have an air flow system that keeps the space cool while driving.

Pro tip: Water your plants a day before the move (not the morning of), and make sure they're in non-breakable pots. If it's a prized plant, you may want to carry it in your vehicle—just in case.

Do Movers Move TVs?

Again, you need movers who know what they're doing.

We'll dismount, pad, wrap, and secure your TV like Fort Knox. Got the original box? Even better. If not, we have heavy-duty moving blankets and the proper packing methods to keep your screen from turning into a thousand-dollar jigsaw puzzle. Our moving crews will not mount TVs in your new house, but just let us know and we can connect you with someone who can!

What Else Falls Under "Specialty Items"?

If it's big, fragile, oddly shaped, or has sentimental value, assume it's a specialty item. This can include:

  • Large mirrors or glass tabletops
  • Artwork or sculptures
  • Antique furniture
  • Gun safes
  • Medical Equipment
  • Home gym equipment

We've moved all of the above, and yes, we're still friends with gravity.

Final Word

If you're wondering whether we can move it, here's your answer: Ask. We'll give it to you straight and come prepared.
